The Sales Representative role, based in Nairobi, is central to driving business growth within the paper and packaging industry. The role requires proactive market engagement, comprehensive client management, and consistent achievement of sales targets.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Identify, target, and actively seek out new sales prospects in the paper and packaging industry.
- Contact regular and prospective clients to demonstrate products, explain product features, and solicit orders.
- Comprehend market trends by conducting market research to identify potential customers.
- Create and preserve a solid pipeline of potential clients/prospects.
- Create and deliver persuasive ideas and sales presentations that are suited to the demands of the client.
- Meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets.
- Establish and maintain long-term relationships with clients, comprehend their needs, and offer continuing support, including successfully attending to their needs and concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of consigned inventory (type, quantity, status) and submit them biweekly to the stores and finance departments.
- Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, permits, and approvals.
- Liaise with dispatch and customer support to ensure goods are delivered to the customer on time.
- Create and apply excellent sales strategies and standardized procedures to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
- Make strategic recommendations based on consumer feedback, competitive analysis, and market trends.
- Make use of sales technologies and tools to improve the sales process.
- Provide regular reports on customer interactions, sales opportunities, and challenges.
- Share sales results and offer suggestions for possible areas of development.
- Willingness to travel to various locations as required to support business operations, client engagements, or project execution.
- Perform any other duties as and when assigned by the management from time to time.
Qualifications, Experience, and Knowledge
- Diploma or Degree in Sales, Marketing, or Business Administration.
- 4 - 5 years’ experience in sales; preferably in the paper and packaging industry or a related field.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Prioritizing time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to create and deliver presentations tailored to the audience’s needs.
- A proven track record of meeting and surpassing sales targets.
- Capacity to work independently while adopting a proactive and aggressive sales strategy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with CRM software.
