Job Description
ICS-SP is an innovative African NGO that works in rural areas of Africa together with families, communities, and other stakeholders to create safe and nurturing environments for children to reach their full potential. The Research Assistant will be responsible for conducting qualitative and quantitative data collection in accordance with established research methodologies in Lokichar, Turkana.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct qualitative and quantitative data collection in accordance with established research methodologies.
Facilitate interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and surveys with project beneficiaries and stakeholders.
Transcribe qualitative data accurately and efficiently.
Organize and manage collected data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Attend training workshops for Research Assistants.
Maintain clear and organized documentation of all research activities.
Participate in de-briefing meetings following data collection cycles.
Ensure all project equipment is protected, safe, and accounted for.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Research supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills
University degree or diploma in Social Science or any relevant discipline.
Proven experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative data collection for research projects.
Specific experience in conducting In-depth Interviews (IDI) and Focus Group Discussions (FGD).
Proficiency in transcription techniques.
Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
Proficiency in local languages is highly advantageous.
Excellent interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
Previous experience using digital data collection platforms such as KOBO Collect.
Candidates must be locals from the survey areas (Turkana - Lokichar).
