Research Assistant - Kisumu (Muhoroni)

Responsibilities

• Conduct qualitative and quantitative data collection in accordance with established research methodologies.
• Perform interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and surveys with project beneficiaries and stakeholders.
• Transcribe qualitative data accurately and efficiently.
• Organize and manage collected data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Attend training workshops for Research Assistants.
• Maintain clear and organized documentation of all research activities.
• Participate in de-brief meetings after data collection.
• Protect all project equipment and ensure that they are all safe and accounted for.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Research supervisor.

Requirements

• University degree or diploma in Social Science or any relevant discipline.
• Proven experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative data collection for research projects.
• Experience in carrying out In-depth Interviews (IDIs) and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs).
• Proficiency in transcription techniques.
• Good written and oral communication in English and Kiswahili.
• Proficiency in local languages will be an added advantage.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Previous experience using digital data collection platforms such as KOBO Collect.
• Must be a local resident from the survey area (Kisumu - Muhoroni).
