Job Description
ICS-SP is an innovative African NGO that works in rural areas of Africa together with families, communities, and other stakeholders to create safe and nurturing environments for children to reach their full potential. The Research Assistant will be responsible for conducting qualitative and quantitative data collection in accordance with established research methodologies, primarily focused on the Kisumu (Muhoroni) region.
Responsibilities
Conduct qualitative and quantitative data collection in accordance with established research methodologies.
Perform interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and surveys with project beneficiaries and stakeholders.
Transcribe qualitative data accurately and efficiently.
Organize and manage collected data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Attend training workshops for Research Assistants.
Maintain clear and organized documentation of all research activities.
Participate in de-brief meetings after data collection.
Protect all project equipment and ensure that they are all safe and accounted for.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Research supervisor.
Requirements
University degree or diploma in Social Science or any relevant discipline.
Proven experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative data collection for research projects.
Experience in carrying out In-depth Interviews (IDIs) and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs).
Proficiency in transcription techniques.
Good written and oral communication in English and Kiswahili.
Proficiency in local languages will be an added advantage.
Excellent interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Previous experience using digital data collection platforms such as KOBO Collect.
Must be a local resident from the survey area (Kisumu - Muhoroni).
