Job Description
Africa Global Logistics (AGL), a leading multimodal logistics operator in Africa and part of the MSC family, is seeking a Releasing Supervisor / Gate Pass Supervisor to oversee and verify gate pass operations in Mombasa, Kenya.
Job Purpose
The Releasing Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all cargo gate passes are processed accurately, compliantly, and in accordance with established logistics procedures to facilitate the safe and timely release of consignments.
Key Responsibilities
Gate Pass Verification: Check all gate passes received from the gate pass clerk to ensure they have the necessary, valid documentation and align with laid down procedures.
Tariff & Financial Compliance: Ensure consignments are correctly charged using the right tariffs and parameters, and verify that all invoices are current and properly receipted.
Document Validation: Confirm the validity of delivery orders (checking dates and signatories) and port passes, and secure necessary management approvals (such as credit facility approvals).
Consignment Completeness: Ensure all documentation linked to a consignment is bundled as part of the gate pass before releasing goods to correct parties.
Operational Administration: Upload and print gate passes when required; follow up and ensure manual gate passes are closed timely.
Credit & Accounts Follow-up: Monitor payments and facilitate closure of files utilizing credit facilities.
Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal and external clients to resolve gate pass issues promptly, minimizing business disruption.
Escalation: Promptly escalate issues to management that could negatively impact the gate pass process or team performance.
Archiving & Compliance: Ensure completed gate passes are archived systematically and on time.
Relief Sign-off: Sign off on gate passes upon advice when the Assistant Customer Service & Documentation Manager or Yard Manager is absent.
Teamwork: Work collaboratively with the gate pass team to maintain an efficient workflow and perform other duties as directed.
Profile and Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within transport, logistics, or port operations.
Experience in KWATOS is highly desirable and serves as an added advantage.
