Our client is a fast-growing mid-sized freight forwarding company in Nairobi. They specialize in air and sea cargo from key global hubs such as Dubai, Guangzhou, London, Milan, Johannesburg, Istanbul, and Amsterdam. They move 80-100 tonnes of air freight monthly (commercial and personal items) and one 40ft container daily, providing full end-to-end visibility from warehouse receipt through customs clearance to final delivery.
The client is seeking to recruit a dynamic and experienced Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to take full operational responsibility, professionalize their processes, and drive their next phase of growth.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Departmental Leadership: Lead all 7 departments, which include Sales, Customer Service, Transport, Marketing, Call Centre, Warehouse, and Operations departments.
- Revenue Growth: Deliver 20% to 30% year-on-year revenue growth while optimizing profitability.
- Client Experience: Enhance client experience, focusing especially on faster resolutions of delays, breakages, and claims.
- Logistics Oversight: Oversee air freight, sea containers, warehousing, transport, and customs clearance.
- Partnerships & Technology: Build strong global partnerships and implement technology for better tracking and efficiency.
Educational Qualifications & Career Experience
- Logistics Experience: 10-15 years of experience in freight forwarding/logistics, with strong experience in air freight and containerized sea freight.
- Leadership Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in executive leadership roles (e.g., General Manager, Director, CEO roles) with direct P&L responsibility.
- Operational Track Record: Proven track record in client service excellence and operational improvement in logistics.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep knowledge of the Kenyan/East African regulatory environment (KRA, KPA, KEBS).
- Academics & Certifications: A Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or a related field. An MBA or CILT/FIATA certification would be an added advantage.
