Reporting to the Head of Sales, the Regional Sales Manager has the primary responsibility for managing all sales activities within a defined geographical region. This is an evergreen requisition for multiple locations across Kenya. The role is field-based and requires proper planning within the assigned region and is suitable for an individual who is passionate about sales and people management. The successful candidate should be keen on working in a thriving tech-driven and innovative social impact business focused on small-scale farmers with an aim of transforming their businesses.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Execution: Actively participate in setting sales targets and ensuring all Sales Team Leads receive clear communication on these targets.
Performance Monitoring: Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales performance reviews to ensure team performance delivery while offering support both in the field and remotely.
Target Achievement: Own the regional sales targets and work toward 100% achievement by ensuring Sales Team Leads are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills.
Territory Management: Maintain a deep understanding of the territory, ensuring proper agent distribution and solving issues faced by sales agents. Ensure agents clearly understand commission structures and retrain them periodically.
Field Support & Training: Spearhead joint fieldwork with Sales Team Leads and Sales agents, including weekly training to drive agent recruitment. Handle weekly work reviews and execution planning.
Business Development: Build the business in the region through networking for partnership opportunities and relationship building.
Compliance & Recruitment: Ensure Sales Team Leads follow the set recruitment process and achieve monthly targets based on key competencies.
Market Analysis: Analyze competitor activities in the region and assess opportunities for business development.
Team Management: Manage Sales Team Leads and ensure they have the necessary tools and support to deliver on their roles.
Representation: Attend relevant industry events and conferences to build the business and generate leads.
Requirements & Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Sales and Marketing or other related fields.
At least 2-4 years of experience in a leadership role and managing teams.
Ability to speak the local language and a willingness to visit farms and conduct door-to-door sales as the role requires close engagement with farmers.
Excellent communication, listening, and negotiation skills.
Work experience in direct sales target-driven business and proficiency in group presentations and selling.
Experience managing a team with a passion for mentoring and coaching.
Comfortable with ambiguity and experience working in a dynamic environment.
Detail-oriented, delivery-focused, and willing to learn.
Experience in solar or off-grid pump systems would be an advantage.
Experience developing new territories.
A valid driving license (minimum of 2 years required).
