The Regenerative Agriculture Lead is responsible for developing and scaling regenerative agriculture initiatives across coffee-growing communities within Kenyacof supply chains. The role focuses on improving soil health, biodiversity, farmer livelihoods, climate resilience, and long-term coffee sustainability through regenerative farming practices. You will work closely with agronomy, sustainability, sourcing, and farmer support teams to support Sucafina’s sustainability and responsible sourcing goals.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Mentorship: Lead and mentor agronomy teams to deliver farmer support programs aligned with regenerative agriculture and sustainability objectives.
Soil Analysis: Conduct soil analysis and soil health management by providing tailored nutrient management recommendations to improve farm productivity and resilience.
Practice Implementation: Design and implement regenerative agriculture practices including composting and sustainable soil amendment strategies across coffee supply chains.
Program Management: Manage revolving fund programs through coordination of agricultural input distribution, farmer adoption tracking, and recovery reporting to ensure accountability and impact.
Circular Economy: Oversee sustainable waste and wastewater management initiatives to promote circular economy practices at wet mills.
Certification Compliance: Lead sustainability certification compliance for programs including Rainforest Alliance, C.A.F.E. Practices, IMPACT, and Fairtrade standards.
Training and Capacity Building: Deliver farmer training on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), regenerative agriculture, climate-smart farming, financial literacy, and farm business management.
Field Support: Provide field-based agronomy support through regular farm visits and guidance on responsible agrochemical and fertilizer use.
Demonstration Plots: Lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of demonstration plots to showcase and validate the effectiveness of regenerative agriculture practices, including inputs, soil amendments, and crop varieties.
Inclusion Initiatives: Promote gender equity and youth inclusion through farmer group development, entrepreneurship training, and income diversification initiatives.
Data Management: Lead sustainability data collection and reporting including carbon mapping, certification monitoring, and impact tracking to support evidence-based decision-making.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, Soil Science, Sustainable Agriculture, or a related field.
5–7 years’ experience in regenerative agriculture, agronomy, sustainability, or agricultural extension.
Experience within the coffee value chain is preferred but not mandatory.
Proven experience leading agronomy teams and implementing farmer support programs.
Experience working with smallholder farmers, cooperatives, and sustainability certification programs (Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, C.A.F.E. Practices).
Strong background in soil health management, climate-smart agriculture, and sustainability reporting.
Strong leadership, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills.
