Kenyatta University is seeking a qualified Refrigeration Technician to join its team. This role involves the comprehensive maintenance, installation, and servicing of refrigeration systems, with a particular focus on the specialized cooling requirements of the University's Funeral Home. The successful candidate will ensure that all cooling and ventilation systems are operating efficiently to maintain critical temperatures and equipment functionality.
Key Responsibilities
System Maintenance: Install, maintain, and service refrigeration cold rooms and related equipment.
Diagnostics and Repair: Troubleshoot and overhaul ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems to address technical failures.
Funeral Home Operations: Perform daily monitoring of body refrigerators to ensure correct temperatures are maintained and take immediate corrective action in case of breakdown.
HVAC Servicing: Maintain and repair the air conditioning units specifically located at the Funeral Home.
Ventilation Oversight: Regularly check that all extract and suction fans are in proper working order.
Mechanical Maintenance: Lubricate dressing tables and hydraulic lifter machines, and assist in repairing hydraulic systems within the facility.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or a related field from a recognized institution.
Academic Background: A mean grade of C (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E) or its equivalent.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in standard computer applications.
Specific Experience: At least two (2) years of hands-on experience handling body refrigerators in a Funeral Home environment.
