About the Organisation
The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) is a Swiss-based private diplomacy organization founded on the principles of humanity, impartiality, and independence. Our mission is to help prevent, mitigate, and resolve armed conflict through dialogue and mediation.
HD uses the tools of private diplomacy to expand the space for the non-violent resolution of armed conflict. We open channels of communication and mediate between parties in conflict, facilitate dialogue, provide support to the broader mediation and peacebuilding community, carry out capacity building work, and conduct research on mediation issues. We deploy our expertise to support local processes that protect civilians and foster lasting and just peace. Our position enables us to link and collaborate with multiple organizations and actors within the mediation field.
Role Overview
The Project Associate supports the day-to-day management of project activities, providing administrative, operational, and logistical assistance to ensure the effective implementation of programme activities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Administration & Operations: Provide administrative and operational support for the effective implementation of programme activities.
Logistics Coordination: Coordinate logistical arrangements for workshops, meetings, and other project-related events, as guided by the Project Manager.
Travel Management: Facilitate project-related travel arrangements and support conference and event management processes.
Financial Administration: Assist with financial administration, including processing invoices, managing expense claims, and supporting budget tracking as required.
Media & Context Monitoring: Conduct regular media monitoring and compile updates to keep the team informed of relevant political and contextual developments impacting the programme.
Record Keeping: Maintain organized and up-to-date project files, records, and documentation in line with organizational standards.
Field Operations: Undertake regular field trips to support the implementation of activities.
Other Duties: Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience: 3 years of work experience in conflict resolution or in a similar function in Sudan, Horn of Africa region and/or internationally.
Project Management: A good understanding of project management with demonstrated administrative experience.
Organizational Background: Experience working in a regional or international organisation preferred.
Language: Excellent oral and written skills. Arabic language is a mandatory requirement.
Communication: Experience of and sensitivity in communicating with multicultural and diverse audiences.
Contextual Knowledge: Contextual knowledge and understanding of Sudan will be an added advantage.
Domain Knowledge: A good understanding of peace and security issues.
Work Authorization: Legal status to work in Kenya.
