About the Role
The Consortium Manager Sudan (Based in Nairobi) will provide overall direction and leadership of the Consortium to ensure seamless operations and leverage complementarity among partners. You will coordinate with consortium members to ensure high-quality implementation of activities, compliance with donor and consortium rules, and accountability to beneficiaries.
This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of the project, representing the Consortium to stakeholders, leading proposal development, and overseeing programmatic and financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Coordination: Provide overall direction and leadership of the Consortium to ensure seamless operations, leveraging complementarity among partners. Coordinate with consortium members to ensure high-quality implementation of activities, compliance with donor and consortium rules, and accountability to beneficiaries.
- Project Management: Oversee day-to-day management of the project, including planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and budget spending, ensuring the project remains on scope and schedule.
- Representation: Represent the Consortium to relevant stakeholders, including national authorities, donors, and counterparts, promoting the best interests of Consortium partners.
- Team Management: Line manage and supervise the work of the Consortium Management Unit; carry out necessary recruitments, including for consultants.
- Strategic Development: Lead consultations, design, and preparation of the next phase of the Consortium based on evidenced needs, donor expectations, and drawing from partners’ diverse expertise.
- Fundraising & Portfolio Management: Contribute to fundraising initiatives to diversify the Consortium’s portfolio, actively seeking new relationships with donors and developing funding proposals. Oversee and monitor consortium partners’ spending.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, donor’s strategy, requirements, and expectations. Guarantee donor reports and other Consortium products are developed on time and with high quality.
- Grants & Proposal Management: Responsible for full grants and proposals management. Ensure that all grant files are up to date and that copies are kept in the field and sent to HQ in a timely manner.
- Governance: Lead and/or facilitate consortium committee meetings as per the consortium governance (steering committee, programme committee, technical working groups, etc.).
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Education: Minimum BA in relevant areas preferably.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of humanitarian experience across multiple contexts, with at least 2 years of experience in youth programmes.
- Consortium Experience: Proven experience managing Consortia or extensive involvement in a multi-year consortium.
- Budget Management: At least 3 years of project management experience managing multi-million (EURO) projects.
- Technical Skills: Experience developing training tools, manuals, and information management systems for humanitarian action and accountability to affected people.
- Communication: Self-motivated and confident communicator, with experience giving briefings and presentations. Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required.
- Context Knowledge: Preferred experience or strong knowledge of the Sudan context.
