Job Description
P.C.E.A Tumutumu Hospital, a 203-bed facility owned and governed by the Presbyterian Church of East Africa, is seeking a qualified Pharmaceutical Technologist. The hospital provides holistic health care and is located in the Central Highlands of Kenya, approximately 130 km North of Nairobi near Karatina.
Job Overview
The Pharmaceutical Technologist will be responsible for providing high-quality pharmaceutical services within the hospital setting. This includes managing medication dispensing, ensuring patient safety through proper counseling, and adhering to the legal and professional standards of pharmacy practice in Kenya.
Key Responsibilities
Dispense medications accurately according to prescriptions and hospital protocols.
Provide drug information and counseling to patients regarding dosage, usage, and potential side effects.
Manage pharmacy inventory, including stock levels and proper storage of medicines.
Ensure compliance with all legal and professional regulations set by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
Maintain accurate records of all pharmaceutical transactions and controlled substances.
Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes through holistic care.
Qualifications and Requirements
Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.
Must be registered and hold a valid, current practicing license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB).
Minimum of 2 years' relevant experience working in a hospital or a busy health facility.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Must provide a recommendation letter from a religious leader (who shall also serve as one of the referees).
