The Medical Officer's role is to safeguard the health and wellbeing of students and staff by providing clinical care, preventive health services, health education, and advising the institution on medical and public health matters. The Medical Officer reports to the Registrar, Planning and Administration.\n\n### Duties and Responsibilities\n- Provide professional advice, guidance and training to the Clinical Officers and other medical staff in the area of specialization within the university.\n- Refer patients for specialized investigation e.g. scans, x-rays for better diagnosis and treatment.\n- Participate in strategic planning and development of medical department policies to ensure that there is planned development of the department.\n- Participate in preparation of financial year department's budget to ensure the department is running under the financial year budgetary allocation.\n- Participate in preparation of the departmental annual work plan to ensure better and organized and timely service delivery.\n- Offer treatment in a specialized field to the staff/dependents and students to ensure a healthy university community.\n- Perform surgeries on the patients to ensure a healthy university community.\n- Refer patients for admissions and follow up of the same to ensure paramount health care is given.\n- Advise the patients and clients on nutrition, family planning and other health measures to ensure a university community.\n- Sensitize and educate the student and staff on lifestyle diseases to have a healthy community while reducing mortality.\n- Participate in community sensitization on diseases and possible disease outbreaks and educate them on how to curb the diseases.\n- Any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.\n\n### Job Specifications (Minimum Qualifications and Experience)\n- Bachelors Degree in Medicine and Surgery (MB,ChB) or equivalent from a recognized institution.\n- At least three (3) years' experience in Clinical/medical post Grade 11.\n- Registration by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) and in good standing.\n- Current practicing license.\n- Current professional indemnity insurance cover.\n- Proficiency in relevant computer applications.\n\n### How to Apply\nApplications should be accompanied by an application Letter, a detailed Curriculum Vitae and certified copies of relevant academic and professional certificates, National Identity Card or valid Passport, testimonials, e-mail addresses, telephone contacts and any other relevant supporting documents. \n\nTen (10) hard copies should be sent by post or hand delivery to: \n\n\n\n\nAdditionally, a soft copy in PDF format of the application documents with the reference numbers of the positions applied for clearly indicated should be sent to .
