Job Description
The Aga Khan Academy Nairobi is operated by Aga Khan Education Service Kenya (AKESK), a non-profit organization with nearly a century of experience operating schools in Kenya. This role is for a P1 Teacher to serve as a Maternity Reliever, specifically teaching Mathematics, Social Studies, and Kiswahili at the primary level. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and delivering high-quality lessons aligned with the school's vision and mission, ensuring students make consistent progress and achieve their learning targets.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the school’s vision and mission.
Collaboratively develop unit and lesson plans for the curriculum.
Ensure students acquire excellent knowledge and skills to make progress and achieve targets.
Produce essential educational documents including Unit plans, Records of Work, Course outlines, and class analyses.
Differentiate lessons to match the diverse needs of all learners.
Engage learners in various activities such as storytelling, role plays, and numbers/letters recognition.
Display learners’ work in the classroom to showcase their abilities and projects.
Plan regular excursions to expose students to different environments.
Observe children's behavior and help them improve by building self-confidence and teaching social values.
Guide learners with learning differences and behavioral challenges.
Manage and update children's progress and create comprehensive reports for parents.
Requirements and Qualifications
A P1 Certificate from a recognized teacher training institution.
Valid registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
Demonstrated ability to teach Mathematics, Social Studies, and Kiswahili at the primary level.
Sound knowledge and practical understanding of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
At least 2 years of relevant teaching experience in a reputable school.
Good ICT skills, especially in the use of MS Office applications.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
