This Network Security Engineer role will be placed with a leading global security company headquartered in the US, with a distributed engineering team. The company helps organizations manage and automate security processes, identify risks, and improve visibility across networks, applications, and cloud environments. This role combines deployment, technical support, and client-facing work, offering end-to-end exposure to real-world security environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Software Deployment: Install and configure network security software for new clients and support deployments across cloud and on-premise environments.
- Onboarding Support: Manage demo environments and support customer onboarding and early usage.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Resolve customer issues end-to-end, including remote debugging and log analysis.
- Client Engagement: Participate in customer calls to guide setup, resolve issues, and ensure successful adoption.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with internal teams including Sales, Product, Delivery, and Engineering.
- Documentation and Tracking: Document, escalate, and track technical issues through to resolution.
- Knowledge Contribution: Contribute to internal knowledge bases and customer-facing technical content.
Requirements
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Experience: At least 2 years of hands-on experience in a Networking or Network Security role (e.g., IT Networking, IT support, Network Security Engineer, Network Engineer, Application Support, or similar).
- Education: BA/BSc/HND in a relevant ICT field.
- Certification: CCNA or similar professional certification (e.g., CompTIA, Huawei, etc.).
- Technical Foundations: Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP, browser–server communication, firewall/security policies).
- Firewall Proficiency: Experience working with firewall policies from vendors such as Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, or Check Point.
- Soft Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and confidently in a client-facing role, quick learner, and a proactive problem-solver.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Hands-on experience with Linux (setup, configuration, basic administration) and familiarity with Windows.
- Experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Basic experience with Docker and Kubernetes (Pods, Services, Ingress).
- Understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and awareness of common web vulnerabilities (e.g., XSS, SQL injection).
- Familiarity with network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, Fiddler).
- Experience working with APIs (e.g., REST or GraphQL).
- Scripting experience (Python and/or Bash).
