Job Description
The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Assistant for Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS+) will operate under the supervision of the Protection Team Leader. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring compliance with child protection standards, including data sharing procedures. The role involves providing technical support to child protection staff, managing the functionality of the CPIMS+ system, and supporting monitoring and evaluation efforts through statistical reporting.
Responsibilities
Child Protection Case Management
Effectively utilize the CPIMS+ database as a case management tool while adhering to confidentiality and information sharing protocols.
Customize the CPIMS+ system as required for the specific context of the Dadaab Refugee Camp.
Produce timely quantitative and qualitative progress reports on camp activities for regular situation reports.
Assist Child Protection Officers and case workers with accurate data entry and provide necessary training.
Design data tools to meet the needs of children in the refugee camp and host settlements.
Monitor data quality, correcting errors in entry and form completion.
Manage electronic and hardcopy information related to the case management cycle.
Training & Capacity Development
Provide training and capacity-building for child protection partners on information management systems.
Conduct trainings aimed at building community and child capacity.
Mentor staff involved in case management and take responsibility for personal professional development.
Data Analysis and Reporting
Generate routine reports and conduct data analysis on child protection issues and trends.
Collaborate with partner agencies and stakeholders to respond to issues affecting child safety through information sharing.
Contribute to the development of proposals, work plans, and logical frameworks.
Liaise with agencies such as UNHCR and UNICEF regarding the ongoing development of the CPIMS+ system.
Data Protection & Coordination
Ensure the protection of data management devices and secure storage of physical and digital documents.
Actively prevent and report child abuse in all aspects of work.
Maintain working relationships with government officers, UN agencies, and other humanitarian stakeholders.
Participate in community events promoting child rights.
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a related field from a recognized institution.
At least 2 years of continuous work experience in data management, preferably with an NGO in child protection, human rights, or refugee contexts.
Practical experience with CPIMS+ is a significant advantage.
Proficiency in IT systems, Microsoft Office, and SPSS software.
Fluent in written and spoken English and Swahili.
Demonstrated leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
