Job Description
The International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) in Kenya is a research, education, and development organization focused on empowering rural communities to overcome poverty through innovation and sustainable practices. As a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Officer Intern, you will be part of a global, diverse team contributing to high-impact rural development programs.
Role Overview
The role involves providing support for the production of the 2025 annual report, assisting in training for the global MEL framework, and identifying analytic tools for measuring project impacts. You will also assist with initiatives in health, education, environment, and climate change adaptation while supporting grant proposals through research and writing.
Key Responsibilities
Support the production and presentation of the 2025 annual report, impact studies, and lessons learned publications.
Assist in the training and implementation of the global MEL framework.
Follow up on data collection processes for the 2025 impact report.
Support new and short-term initiatives in areas of health, climate change, nutrition, and education across IIRR country offices.
Identify and record analytic tools for measuring the success of rural development programs.
Contribute to grant proposals through background research and authorship.
Provide research assistance for organizational publications.
Requirements and Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Economics, Statistics, or any relevant discipline (must be completed prior to the start date).
High level of organization, reliability, and self-motivation.
Impeccable writing skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Applications.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to multi-task under deadlines.
Ability to work effectively in a remote environment with minimal oversight.
Flexibility to work in a startup-like culture and a willingness to value global team input.
