The skilled Welder will be responsible for cutting and joining metals and other materials at our facilities or construction sites. The role involves operating specialized equipment to assemble mechanical structures or parts with high precision. You will be responsible for permanently joining metal parts using high-heat applications to form durable bonds, potentially specializing in various welding processes.
Principal Accountabilities
Read and interpret blueprints and drawings; take measurements to plan layout and procedures.
Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on project requirements.
Set up components for welding according to specifications, including cutting material with powered saws.
Operate angle grinders to prepare parts for welding.
Align components using calipers, rulers, and clamps.
Weld components using manual or semi-automatic equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead).
Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws.
Maintain equipment to ensure it does not compromise safety standards.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education: Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is required.
Certification: Professional certification (e.g., an AWS welding certificate) is highly preferred.
Experience: Proven experience as a welder, including the use of various welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA, etc.).
Technical Skills: Experience in using electrical or manual tools such as saws, squares, and calipers.
Knowledge: Essential understanding of different kinds of metal and their properties, as well as safety standards and PPE requirements.
Language: Must be proficient in English.
Soft Skills: Great attention to detail and manual dexterity.
