This is the entry and training grade for the legal cadre at the National Quality Control Laboratory (NQCL), a State Corporation within the Ministry of Health. An officer at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of a senior officer to provide essential legal support to the organization. The position is offered on a one-year contract basis at Position Level NQCL 8.
Responsibilities and Duties
Prepare legal opinions on various matters affecting the Laboratory.
Provide and interpret legal information for management and staff.
Conduct training and disseminate appropriate legal information to staff members.
Review and draft contracts, agreements, and internal policies to ensure they comply with all statutory and legal requirements.
Monitor and report on any non-compliance issues within the organization.
Handle pre-litigation and litigation-related legal disputes and inquiries.
Participate in policy development and advise on legal policy issues.
Develop legal documents and instruments required for operations.
Ensure compliance with the principles and values of good governance.
Implement strategic plans and objectives related to the legal function.
Conduct legal risk reviews and provide advice to mitigate potential liabilities.
Review ongoing cases and provide regular updates and advice to management.
Requirements and Person Specifications
Degree in Law from a recognized institution.
Current Advocate Practicing License.
Proficiency in computer applications.
