Mount Kenya University (MKU) is seeking an Internal Auditor to analyze the financial, operational, and management processes and systems of the University and its affiliates. The role involves evaluating risk management and internal control frameworks to ensure they meet business and operational objectives.\n\n### Duties and Responsibilities\n- Assisting in analyzing the financial, operational, and management processes and systems of the University and its affiliates.\n- Evaluating the adequacy of system design, risk management, and internal control frameworks in meeting business, operational, and control objectives.\n- Assisting in the preparation of risk-based audit plans and ensuring comprehensive and quality audit programmes are prepared.\n- Performing Risk Assessments tailored to each area under review to identify and evaluate areas of significant weaknesses.\n- Preparing audit reports detailing identified key control gaps and providing innovative recommendations for implementation.\n- Assisting in the investigation of significant suspected fraudulent activities within the University.\n- Conducting special audit assignments as directed by the Head of Internal Audit.\n- Providing value-added internal consulting services to University stakeholders.\n- Undertaking any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.\n\n### Qualifications and Experience\n- Bachelor's degree in a business or Finance related field.\n- Professional certifications in CPA(K) or ACCA.\n- At least 5 years' experience gained in an audit environment as an assistant internal auditor.\n- Must be registered with a relevant Professional body (e.g., ICPAK).\n- A Master's degree in a business-related field will be an added advantage.\n- Part or full qualifications as CISA, CISM, or CISSP will be an added advantage.\n\n### Core Competencies\n- Data mining, data analysis, detail-oriented, and report writing skills.\n- Competitive interpersonal communication skills and team player.\n- Working knowledge of computer-aided audit techniques (CAATs).\n- Experience in auditing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, digital platforms, and other subsystems.\n- Conversant with higher education governing laws and regulatory frameworks.\n\n### How to Apply\nInterested and qualified candidates should apply online through the Mount Kenya University recruitment portal at .
