Surge Energy Limited (Surge) specializes in the manufacturing and revalidation of steel LPG cylinders. Incorporated in 2017, the company is strategically located in Kisaju, Kenya, providing convenient access to Nairobi, the Mombasa Port (via the Internal Container Depot, ICD), and the entire East Africa region.
This Human Resource Management Intern role is designed to provide practical experience and exposure to various aspects of human resources within the organization. This internship offers hands-on learning and support to our HR team while contributing to the achievement of organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the recruitment process by posting job openings, reviewing resumes, and scheduling interviews.
- Support the onboarding process for new employees, including preparing orientation materials and conducting orientation sessions.
- Assist with employee relations activities, including maintaining employee records, handling inquiries, and supporting disciplinary processes.
- Aid in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Assist in organizing and conducting employee training and development programs.
- Support HR projects and initiatives, such as performance management, employee engagement surveys, and diversity and inclusion programs.
- Assist with benefits administration tasks, such as enrollment, changes, and inquiries.
- Conduct research on HR best practices and contribute ideas for process improvements.
- Assist with various administrative tasks within the HR department, including filing, data entry, and maintaining HR databases.
Qualifications
To be considered for this internship, candidates should meet the following qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
- Strong interest in pursuing a career in human resources.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior internship or work experience in HR is a plus.
