The Head of Human Resources & Administration is responsible for leading the HR and administration functions, ensuring they are aligned with organizational goals and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement human resource and administration strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Lead workforce planning initiatives to ensure availability of a highly skilled and motivated workforce.
- Develop, review, and implement HR policies, procedures, and operational manuals in line with labor laws.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, placement, and retention processes.
- Coordinate staff succession planning, leadership development, and organizational capability building.
- Lead performance management processes including appraisals, reviews, coaching, and development plans.
- Cultivate a performance-driven and customer-focused organizational culture.
- Implement staff learning, training, mentorship, and e-learning programs.
- Oversee employee relations and maintain a supportive, inclusive, and compliant work environment.
- Advise management on labor laws, industrial relations, disciplinary issues, and employee welfare.
- Coordinate compensation and benefits administration including salaries, pension, and medical insurance.
- Conduct salary surveys and provide market intelligence on compensation trends.
- Oversee HR budgets and monitor departmental expenditure.
- Ensure maintenance of staff records, HR systems, and employee documentation.
- Coordinate administration functions including procurement support, facilities management, security, and transport.
- Manage relationships with external service providers, consultants, and insurers.
- Participate in corporate governance and provide HR advisory support to senior leadership.
- Prepare periodic HR and administration reports for executive management and Board review.
- Promote compliance with occupational health and safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Lead employee engagement initiatives to improve morale and productivity.
- Support organizational change management and culture transformation initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Commerce, Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
- MBA, Master’s Degree, CHRP(K), or Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management required.
- Membership with IHRM Kenya in good standing is mandatory.
- Minimum of 7 years’ progressive experience in HR Management, with at least 5 years in a senior managerial role.
- Experience in banking, microfinance, SACCO, or financial services sector is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan labor laws, employee relations, and compensation management.
- Proven experience in strategic workforce planning and HR policy development.
- Proficiency in HR systems, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Office applications.
