The Head of Country & Business Development (HCBD) is a challenging, engaging, and rewarding role responsible for growing the company's market presence in the country of residence (Kenya). Reporting directly to the CEO in Lagos, you will be expected to grow the market and improve overall organizational performance through effective business development and operational leadership.
Role Overview
The HCBD is responsible for formulating, optimizing, streamlining, directing the operations, and guiding staff development programs to improve overall organizational performance. You will also develop business improvement plans, provide mentorship and advice to your team members, and liaise with external consultants such as lawyers, accountants, and any other professionals engaged by the company. Other duties include implementing the organization's strategy, drafting policies, assisting in budget preparation, and carrying out human performance reviews.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential business opportunities and emerging trends in the design and build industry.
Develop and implement strategic business development plans and initiatives aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
Identify and cultivate relationships with prospective clients, partners, and stakeholders through networking, cold outreach, and lead generation activities.
Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, proposals, and pitches to potential clients or partners, highlighting the company's value proposition.
Negotiate and structure complex business deals, contracts, and partnerships to ensure favorable terms and equitable conditions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams under the Head of Interiors (HOI), the Head of Architecture (HOA), and the Head of Administration (HOAd) to align efforts and ensure seamless execution of projects.
Conduct due diligence and risk assessments on potential business opportunities, partnerships, or acquisitions.
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote products, services, and brand visibility.
Monitor and analyze industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to identify potential threats and opportunities.
Develop and maintain a robust network of industry contacts, strategic partners, and key decision-makers.
Provide guidance and mentorship to juniors, thereby fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to business development activities, such as lead generation, conversion rates, and revenue contributions.
Attend industry and non-industry events (e.g., social, sporting, and religious) to meet and network with potential clients.
Initiate and organize health, wellbeing, and cultural initiatives such as Cycle at Work Scheme, Organic Fruit Delivery, Cultural Excursions, and Weekend Retreats in consultation with the HOAd.
