The Forester, reporting to the Wood Fuel and Development Manager, is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) and associated factories' wood fuel projects. This role ensures that all operations adhere to established land acquisition and development procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise the daily management and operations of wood fuel projects.
Develop and implement robust procedures for monitoring and evaluating forests and factory tree farms.
Coordinate comprehensive feasibility and economic analyses for proposed projects.
Review and refine wood-fuel land procurement and acquisition procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance.
Coordinate, monitor, and evaluate financial controls and economic factors impacting wood fuel projects.
Generate timely and accurate performance reports for projects, providing recommendations for operational improvements.
Conduct research on new tree species clones to identify those with superior growth characteristics and high calorific value.
Identify and engage with strategic partners for wood fuel management.
Maintain strict compliance with environmental health and safety standards.
Provide expert technical support to factories and contracted firewood farmers.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry.
A minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in Forestry Management.
Demonstrated high integrity and adherence to ethical practices.
Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong team-playing skills with the ability to work cordially in collaborative environments.
Excellent multitasking abilities and a commitment to operational effectiveness.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to apply business knowledge to practical challenges.
High level of professional expertise in forestry and wood fuel management.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
