This is the entry and training grade for the Firefighter cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer to provide emergency response services, including fire suppression and rescue operations within Narok County. The role involves maintaining equipment, participating in drills, and engaging in public safety education.
Duties and Responsibilities
Respond promptly to fire calls and rescue incidents to protect life and property.
Assist in the operation of fire engines and specialized firefighting equipment.
Manage and operate communication equipment during emergencies and routine operations.
Participate in regular fire drills to maintain operational readiness.
Assist in public sensitization and fire safety awareness programs.
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of firefighting tools and vehicles.
Requirements for Appointment
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Academic Qualification: Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) minimum mean grade D (Plain).
Technical Certification: Government Trade Test Certificate Grade III in any of the following areas: Plant/equipment operation, First Aid/Rescue (Paramedic basics), or Electrical installation/Plumbing; OR a Certificate in firemanship or Basic firefighting from recognized institutions such as NYS, Kenya School of Fire, G4S, or a County Fire Academy.
Driving Qualifications: A valid Heavy Commercial Driving License and a Defensive Driving Certificate from a recognized institution.
Emergency Training: A First Aid Certificate from a recognized institution for a course lasting not less than one (1) week.
Legal Requirement: A valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
Added Advantage: A Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health from a recognized institution.
Salary and Benefits
Salary Scale (CPSB 15): Ksh. 18,250 – 22,720 per month plus applicable allowances.
