This role, Fellow, Clean Energy Access, Global LEAP Awards at CLASP, is instrumental in maintaining and improving the operational infrastructure for the Global LEAP Award competitions. The position requires extensive coordination, data management, analytical skills, and stakeholder engagement to drive impact-oriented actions within the off-grid clean energy sector.
CLASP is an impartial and independent nonprofit organization, established in 1999 to mitigate the growing energy demand resulting from the use of appliances, lighting, and equipment. CLASP collaborates globally with policymakers, governments, technical experts, industry, funding organizations, consumers, and consumer groups to enhance the energy ecosystem.
Scope of Work
Program Infrastructure Maintenance and Improvement:
- Collaborate with team members on the scoping, design, and execution of Global LEAP Award competitions.
- Schedule internal team meetings and external funder and stakeholder meetings, circulate agenda and pre-meeting materials, and develop minutes/meeting notes.
- Utilize established and new tools for tracking program activities, impacts, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Coordinate extensively with CLASP colleagues, partners, stakeholders, sub-contractors, and grantees around the world to develop and implement Global LEAP Award projects and research efforts.
- Execute project activities and tasks, and other ad-hoc support needed.
Data Management and Analysis:
- Manage data collection processes, both qualitative and technical.
- Conduct data analysis and develop tools such as evaluation ballots for appliances and/or repair models.
Program Outreach, Stakeholder Engagement, and Reporting:
- Communicate program impacts and facilitate knowledge-sharing across various stakeholder groups, including industry leaders, trade associations, government decision makers, and donor organizations.
- Contribute to grant reporting on programmatic activities, collecting input from team members, reviewing, and formatting the final product.
- Advise on and develop content for the Global LEAP Awards competition and other communications campaigns and activities.
- Design and develop high quality and informational webinars, reports, and presentations, in collaboration with Communications Team members.
Market and Technology Intelligence:
- Generate knowledge products, resources, and tools to inform and inspire impact-oriented actions.
- Conduct desk research, data collection, and analysis on appliance markets, policies, and solar appliance technologies.
- Provide ad-hoc support needed related to Global LEAP Awards.
General Participation:
- The Fellow will participate in regular teleconferences with CLASP staff and consultants, development partners, government representatives, and stakeholders from the private sector and civil society. Fluency in English is required.
Key Qualifications
Experience
- 2+ years of experience, specifically in the off-grid clean energy sector or analogous sectors preferred.
- Experience working off-grid, rural, or emerging market product distribution and/or supply chains is preferred but not required.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required (e.g., energy, environmental science, engineering, public policy, international relations).
Language
- Fluency in English is required.
