The MSVL Group is seeking a highly experienced professional for the role of Deputy Head of Manufacturing, specializing in Soap & Detergent production. This senior role involves overseeing all daily production and operational aspects of the refinery, soap, and detergent lines, ensuring efficiency, quality, safety, and compliance across the entire manufacturing process. The Deputy Head will be pivotal in driving continuous improvement initiatives, managing material control, optimizing costs, and developing the manufacturing team.
Role & Responsibilities
- Production & Operations: Oversee daily production across refinery, soap, and detergent lines, ensuring targets, quality, safety, manpower productivity, and optimal resource utilization.
- Stock Variance & Material Control: Monitor raw material, Work In Progress (WIP), and finished goods variances, drive root-cause analysis, and strengthen material balance controls in coordination with supply chain and finance teams.
- Performance & Efficiency Improvement: Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), yield, recovery, energy usage, and downtime, driving Lean/TPM initiatives to improve throughput and reduce manufacturing losses.
- Maintenance Coordination: Work closely with maintenance teams to ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance, minimize unplanned downtime, and support shutdown planning and execution.
- Quality, Safety & Compliance: Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), quality standards, hygiene, and safety compliance while promoting a disciplined, audit-ready manufacturing culture.
- Reporting & Cost Optimization: Prepare production and variance reports, analyze trends, and lead cost-reduction initiatives across materials, utilities, manpower, and processes.
- Leadership & Team Development: Mentor production teams, build technical capability, and drive training focused on safety, quality, equipment handling, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Experience: 8 to 10+ years of experience in the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) or Process Manufacturing sectors, specifically in Soap, Detergent, Refinery, or Chemicals manufacturing.
- Technical Expertise: Strong technical knowledge of refining, saponification, detergent processing, filling & packaging.
- Operational Management: Proven experience in production planning, OEE management, yield improvement, and stock variance control.
- Systems Knowledge: Exposure to operational methodologies and systems such as Lean, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), Six Sigma, CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), and manufacturing analytics systems.
