The Quality Assurance Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing the daily quality operations within the dairy facility, ensuring full compliance with company standards, national regulations, and recognized quality management systems such as HACCP, GMP, and FSSC 22000. This role involves team leadership, system development, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities.
Main Role and Responsibilities
- Assist the day-to-day operations of a team of Quality staff to ensure compliance with company and national standards.
- Continuously develop the site's quality systems to meet the requirements of customers, the company, and regulatory bodies.
- Undertake troubleshooting activities on products and factory areas.
- Aid in the development of QA standards and conducting inspections.
- Provide advice and guidance when quality standards fall and make decisions on disposal or re-work as necessary. Conduct an investigation to obtain all details prior to approving concessions.
- Be aware of any new or updated procedures and ensure they are communicated to the relevant personnel.
- Ensure that the traceability of all products and components are accurately recorded and challenged.
- Work with operations, maintenance, and management to resolve quality concerns and implement best practices.
- Lead quality improvement projects, conduct internal audits, and provide recommendations for efficiency.
- Ensure the HACCP, GMP, and FSSC 22000 systems are being followed throughout the site and that personnel are well trained.
- Carry out any other mutually agreed duties outside the scope outlined above, as requested by the Quality Assurance Manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
Qualifications and Education:
- Must have a Degree or Diploma in Dairy Technology, Food Science, or Food Technology.
- Must have KCSE grade C+ and above.
Experience:
- Must have a minimum of 2 years’ work experience in a dairy industry, specifically working as a Quality Assurance or Control Supervisor or Officer.
Skills:
- Excellent leadership, communication, and strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, quality control, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point).
- Attention to detail.
- Should be a team player and be able to interact effectively with staff of all levels.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
