Job Description
The University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (UEAB) is an internationally acclaimed institution seeking a dedicated and professional Chef to join its culinary team. This role is focused on delivering high-quality meal services to the institution's diverse population, with a particular emphasis on continental and vegetarian cuisines. The successful candidate will oversee kitchen operations, ensuring food quality, consistency, and strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and present high-quality meals in line with established menus and standards.
Plan menus with a specific emphasis on continental and vegetarian cuisine.
Ensure food quality, consistency, and timely service for all diners.
Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness within the kitchen environment.
Manage kitchen operations, including inventory management and cost control measures.
Supervise kitchen staff to ensure an efficient and professional workflow.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
A minimum qualification of a Diploma or Certificate in Food Production, Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or a related field.
At least five (5) years of relevant work experience in a medium-sized enterprise, hotel, institution, or catering establishment.
Proven experience in continental cuisine and vegetarian meal preparation is a strong advantage.
Deep knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen best practices.
Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high quality standards.
Strong creativity and passion for food preparation.
High level of integrity, discipline, and professionalism.
Excellent teamwork and time-management skills.
