Job Description
About the Role
The National Youth Service (NYS) is seeking to recruit five (5) Cadet Officers for the position of Supply Chain Management Assistant III. This is a permanent and pensionable position within the Kenya Civil Service. Successful candidates will be responsible for supporting the procurement and supply chain functions of the NYS, ensuring the efficient acquisition and management of goods and services. Candidates must be prepared to undergo a mandatory nine-month paramilitary training program at the NYS Training College as part of their induction.
Responsibilities
Assisting in the procurement of goods, works, and services in accordance with the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act.
Maintaining and updating the inventory and asset register.
Participating in the preparation of procurement plans.
Assisting in the opening and evaluation of quotations and tenders.
Managing stores and ensuring proper documentation of receipts and issues of goods.
Ensuring compliance with established supply chain management policies and procedures.
Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor within the NYS framework.
Requirements and Qualifications
Citizenship: Must be a Kenyan citizen.
Academic Qualification: Minimum of KCSE grade C- (Minus) for Diploma entry.
Professional Qualification: Must possess a Diploma in Procurement, Procurement and Logistics, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Purchasing and Supplies Chain Management, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Professional Body: Must be registered by the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM).
Computer Skills: Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
Constitutional Compliance: Must meet the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution regarding integrity.
Health and Discipline: Candidates must be medically fit and have no criminal record.
Age: Must be between 18 and 28 years.
Mandatory Training: Successful candidates must undergo NYS paramilitary training for nine (9) months at the NYS Training College.
Salary and Benefits
Salary: As per the existing National Youth Service (NYS) salary scale.
Medical Cover: Provided under the Social Health Authority (SHA) Scheme for Civil Servants.
