The Busara Center for Behavioral Economics is an advisory and research organization focused on the evaluation and implementation of behavioral interventions in understudied countries and populations. Busara's mission is to work with researchers and organizations to advance and apply behavioral science in pursuit of poverty alleviation. This Analyst position is dedicated to projects focusing on Food Systems, Agriculture, and Climate Resilience, where the successful candidate will provide essential research and advisory support.
Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Research Support: Conduct desk research and literature reviews, assist in interpreting research questions, and identify relevant data sources under the guidance of senior staff.
- Project Management: Assist on multiple research and advisory projects simultaneously, contributing to project workplans and tracking deliverables and timelines.
- Engagement and Documentation: Support internal and external engagements by preparing materials, taking meeting notes, and handling follow-up documentation.
- Reporting: Contribute to draft reports, presentations, and internal briefs by summarizing research findings and highlighting key insights.
- Data Management: Sourcing, cleaning, and organizing datasets, and performing basic data analysis. Work closely with data and programming teams.
- Field Coordination: Assist in the design and administration of quantitative and qualitative survey instruments, including survey programming and field data collection monitoring.
- Experimental Design: Support experimental designs, proposals, pitch decks, and literature reviews as assigned.
- Logistics: Coordinate project logistics, maintain project trackers, and ensure clear communication with internal departments like finance and operations.
Core Organizational Responsibilities
- Participate in team meetings, goal-setting, and team-building exercises.
- Engage in internal training and skill-building workshops.
- Support internal initiatives and contribute to a professional team culture.
- Escalate project risks or challenges to supervisors in a timely manner.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Behavioral Science, or related fields.
- 0–1 years of relevant work or internship experience in research, consulting, policy, or a related field.
- Experience supporting fieldwork and research studies is required.
- Strong qualitative and quantitative research or data analytic skills are required.
- Basic understanding of experimental or quasi-experimental research concepts.
- Previous experience working in climate, sustainability, and agriculture is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with statistical software such as R, STATA, or Python is an asset.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability and willingness to travel to project locations, including within the Global South.
