Job Description Role Overview
The Voter Registration Clerk is responsible for facilitating the voter registration process at the field level. This involves operating biometric technology, verifying applicant documents, and ensuring that all data collected is accurate and handled with high levels of confidentiality and integrity.
Duties and Responsibilities
Equipment Operation: Operate biometric registration kits (KIEMS/VIU tablets) to capture voter details.
Eligibility Verification: Verify the eligibility of applicants in accordance with Kenyan electoral laws.
Guidance: Guide applicants on voter registration requirements and procedures clearly and professionally.
Documentation: Assist applicants in filling out registration forms accurately.
Data Security: Ensure the safe custody of registration equipment, materials, and collected data.
Reporting: Report and transmit voter registration data daily to the Registration Officers.
Ethical Standards: Uphold the IEBC’s code of conduct, ensuring strict data protection and confidentiality.
Inquiry Support: Respond to voter inquiries and support voter verification and inspection exercises.
Inclusivity: Provide courteous and inclusive service to all citizens, including persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
General Support: Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
Citizenship: Must be a Kenyan citizen aged 19 years and above.
Education: Hold a minimum of KCSE C- (minus) or its equivalent.
Technical Skills: Possess computer literacy and ICT skills.
Additional Education: A Diploma in ICT, Statistics, Education, Business Administration, or a related field is considered an added advantage.
Personal Attributes: Must demonstrate high levels of integrity, accountability, and confidentiality.
Political Neutrality: Applicants must not have held office or stood for election as a candidate or party agent in the last five (5) years.
