One Acre Fund is a nonprofit organization that supplies smallholder farmers in East Africa with asset-based financing and agriculture training services to reduce hunger and poverty.
The Tupande Senior Export Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing end-to-end export operations to ensure that goods leave our facilities and reach international vendors on time, within budget, and in full compliance with all agreed regulations, including safety standards. This role is a key part of the Market Access (Soko) team and reports directly to the Export Logistics Specialist. The position is based in Nairobi and operates under a hybrid work model.
Responsibilities
Export Operations and Coordination
- Plan, organize, and oversee the entire export process from order placement to delivery at the destination.
- Coordinate closely with production, warehousing, and procurement teams to ensure accurate order fulfillment.
- Liaise with freight forwarders, carriers, and third-party logistics providers to schedule shipments effectively.
- Track shipments, proactively resolve delays, and ensure smooth movement of cargo.
Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare all required export documentation (invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, export licenses).
- Ensure strict compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and organizational policies.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments for audit and reporting purposes.
- Stay updated on changes in export/import regulations, customs procedures, and relevant trade agreements.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary contact for clients regarding export logistics inquiries.
- Provide updates to customers on order and shipment status.
- Promptly resolve customer complaints, shipment issues, or documentation errors.
- Develop strong working relationships with shipping agents, port authorities, and regulatory agencies.
Cost & Performance Management
- Negotiate shipping rates and terms with carriers and freight forwarders to optimize costs.
- Monitor freight costs, customs duties, and tariffs to control budgets effectively.
- Analyze export logistics performance and recommend process improvements for increased efficiency and cost savings.

Qualifications
For this role specifically, you will need:
- A BA/BSc/HND qualification.
- 3+ years of professional experience in Supply Chain, with at least 2 years focusing specifically on Exports.
- Proficiency in export management systems and tracking tools.
- Advanced proficiency in building complex formulas and functions in Google Sheets to support comprehensive data analysis and reporting.
- Language Requirement: English proficiency is required. Working knowledge of Swahili is also considered useful.
