The General Manager role involves providing strategic oversight and operational leadership for a transport and logistics company, focusing on implementing the board's strategy, driving a customer-centric culture, and overseeing technology platforms (e-commerce applications).
This role is critical for defining growth paths, managing financials (P&L), building high-performing teams, and ensuring seamless execution of transport and logistics contracts across B2B and B2C environments.
Responsibilities
Strategic Oversight
- Envision and improve on the board's strategy, successfully implementing it on the ground by establishing a 3 Year Strategic Plan.
- Drive and embed a customer-centric culture in all functions of service delivery.
- Lay strategy on new growth & expansion paths, cascading the same to staff by drafting and having MD/Board sign off Annual Business Plans (starting with the 2026 Annual Business Plan).
- Embrace new technologies as a bedrock for driving innovation, creativity, and efficiency within the client App, while staying ahead of market competitors.
- Passionately explore new business opportunities, negotiate and close new B-2-B transport & logistics contracts; oversee the integration of new contracts within the company.
- Inform the marketing & publicity strategy, especially on social media and other innovative spaces.
Finance & Budgeting
- Oversee and sign off an Annual Operational Budget (starting 2026).
- Execute and monitor the Annual Operational Budget, ensuring resource allocation for operations, staffing, investments, and business expansion.
- Serve as the recipient of financial reporting for planning and tax reporting.
- Develop and maintain appropriate tools and processes to report relevant operational and financial metrics for critical decision making.
- Put in place matrices to review Business performance on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
Build & Manage Teams
- Build and manage motivated functional teams to deliver KPIs within an appropriate organizational structure aligned with the company vision and mission.
- Give direction in fine-tuning of Job Descriptions to align with HR policies and labor laws to ensure alignment of people and work so that organizational objectives are achieved.
- Development, implementation, and evaluation of operational procedures and work processes and workflow charts.
- Provide an oversight role in establishing the correct safety and health direction for the company; oversee internal control for safety and health to ensure OSHA compliance.
Transport & Logistics Planning Oversight
- Oversee various Transport and logistics contracts, ensuring on-time and in-full delivery within Service Level Agreements.
- Ensure growth of truck numbers on the portal covering various geographical regions.
- Oversee resource allocation and logistics coordination for central planning, allocation of Track & Trace activities through the client Transport Network for all distribution needs.
- Drive sub-contractor/transporter recruitment and development, by designing appropriate onboarding, training, and business support processes related to delivery of performance. Ensure the partnerships gain mutually with growth both incomes and resources.
- Build trust relationships and partnerships with key partners and stakeholders with an aim of creating valuable linkages and efficiencies for service providers and customers.
- Spearhead Driver acculturation, behavior change, and proper training aimed at aligning them to deliver “The Qxperience”.
Software Management – Our Client APP Platforms
- Software development: Provide strategic oversight of software development to ensure the client e-commerce platforms remain robust, scalable, and competitive, including building and sustaining high-performing engineering teams and technology-oriented talent pipelines.
- Continuously monitor market trends, competitor activity, and technological advancements, translating insights from the broader digital and e-commerce landscape into strategies that keep the client platform ahead of industry shifts.
- Client portal: Set strategic direction for the Client Portal to deliver a seamless, secure, and value-driven customer experience that supports core e-commerce functions and strengthens customer engagement and retention.
- Transporters portal: Oversee the strategic development of the Transporters Portal to ensure efficient integration with the core platform, enabling reliable service delivery, performance visibility, and strong partner collaboration across the e-commerce ecosystem.
- Ensure the availability of secure, resilient, and scalable data storage, backup, and system infrastructure to protect business operations, customer data, and platform continuity.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Management, or a related field.
- Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 10–15 years’ experience in logistics, transport, supply chain, or a related industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven experience managing e-commerce operations across B2B and B2C environments.
- Strong commercial acumen with demonstrable P&L ownership and financial management capability.
- Ability to engage and manage diverse client portfolios, including enterprise, B2B, B2C, and e-commerce customers.
