Job Description
AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a multimodal logistics operator and part of the MSC family, is seeking a Transport Coordinator for the Local Distribution Department. Reporting to the Transport Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing transportation workflows, ensuring vehicle compliance, and managing documentation for shipments.
Key Responsibilities
Rate Management: Requesting rates and quotations from transporters and ensuring competitive pricing.
Operational Documentation: Ensuring loading orders are issued to transporters prior to loading.
Shipment Monitoring: Monitoring all allocated shipments from the point of loading to final delivery.
Compliance: Ensuring all trucks comply with required standards before allocation to clients.
Incident Management: Reporting accidents or incidents for all shipments while in transit.
Loading Coordination: Managing truck allocation and coordinating the loading process for both containerized and bulk shipments.
Reporting: Populating and maintaining loading reports and providing daily updates on cargo planning and corridor projections.
Warehouse & Fleet Support: Managing transport operations within AGL warehouses and ensuring optimum utilization of AGL vehicles under local distribution.
Financial Administration: Validating transporter invoices on the TROM system and resolving disputes in a timely manner.
Data Integrity: Maintaining a comprehensive database of all loadings under local distribution.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: A Diploma in Business studies, Transport and Logistics, or related fields.
Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a similar transport coordination role.
