Job Description
UNICEF is looking for a Driver at the G-2 level to provide reliable and safe driving services. The successful candidate will demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism, discretion, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility. This role requires excellent knowledge of protocol while ensuring strict compliance with local driving rules and regulations. The Driver is expected to maintain a client-oriented approach, showing courtesy, tact, and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
Reliable and Safe Driving Services
Drive office vehicles for the transport of UN staff, officials, visitors, and for the delivery and collection of mail, documents, and other items within the duty station and on field missions.
Ensure the assigned vehicle is compliant with all traffic regulations and remain conversant with host country traffic laws and UNICEF's driving principles.
Meet official personnel and visitors at the airport and assist with basic visa and customs formalities and arrangements when required.
Maintenance of Assigned Vehicle
Ensure the vehicle is kept in good running condition at all times by addressing minor repairs and making arrangements for major repairs.
Manage timely oil changes and conduct regular checks of tires, brakes, water levels, and vehicle cleanliness.
Documentation and Vehicle Management
Maintain all required documentation and supplies in the vehicle, including insurance, registration, vehicle logs, office directories, city/country maps, and a first aid kit.
Keep track of insurance renewals and other tax formalities.
Requirements
Education: Secondary Education in Transport or a related field; a valid Driving license and thorough knowledge of local driving rules.
Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience in transportation, professional driving services, vehicle maintenance, and documentation management.
Skills: Proficiency in defensive driving and basic automotive mechanics.
Language: Fluent or proficient level of English.
