About the Role
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is seeking an interim Head of Global Procurement to lead the strategic orientation and implementation of its Global Procurement Unit (GPU). This senior leadership position involves managing a large team, ensuring procurement activities meet the needs of diverse MSF entities, and maintaining synchronization between global and local supply chain priorities. The role is critical for both routine operations and emergency response support.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Orientation
Propose and define the strategic directions for the GPU to the Executive Supply Chain Committee (ESCC).
Ensure consistency between GPU priorities and the supply needs of various MSF entities.
Operationalize strategies into actionable plans while managing risks and stakeholder expectations.
Advocate for and manage resources necessary to achieve strategic goals.
Operational Response & Support
Establish communication channels to capture feedback and needs from all procurement scopes (direct, indirect, and field).
Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement.
Provide direct support during humanitarian emergencies, including sourcing task force coordination.
Team Leadership and Management
Lead and mentor a team of 25-30 members, fostering a collaborative and diverse work environment.
Manage recruitment, performance reviews, and professional development of team members.
Coordinate activities to ensure coherence across the unit.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Build and maintain a network of key stakeholders across the MSF movement.
Ensure alignment between GPU activities and the Executive Supply Chain Committee.
Requirements
Education: Master’s degree in Business, ideally with a specialization in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Project Management.
Experience: At least 10 years of experience in Procurement or Supply-related functions.
Leadership: Proven experience in people management at a senior level.
Context: Direct experience working within complex multi-entity organizations and global contracting/negotiations.
MSF Requirement: Mandatory prior experience within MSF in procurement or supply chain roles.
