The Tiling Trainer role involves developing, implementing, and delivering comprehensive practical and theoretical training programs in tiling technology. The primary goal is to prepare students for employment or entrepreneurship opportunities within the construction sector, ensuring the training aligns with the latest industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously update tiling curricula and schemes of work under the guidance of the Department Manager and in line with industry standards.
- Deliver practical and theoretical training sessions covering topics such as surface preparation, tile layout, cutting and fixing, grouting, and finishing.
- Monitor Student attendance, engagement, and performance and provide timely interventions when challenges arise.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of the tiling workshop to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
Education and Experience Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Qualification: BA/BSc/HND (General academic qualification).
- NITA Grade 2 certification as the minimum trade certification in Tiling, Masonry, or a related Construction Trade.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in professional tiling, including layout, leveling, cutting, and installation on walls and floors.
- At least 8 years total experience in the construction sector, preferably with exposure to both residential and commercial projects.
- Prior experience in vocational training, coaching, or adult education is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of industry safety regulations, tiling materials, and finishing techniques.
- Ability to deliver training effectively in both English and Kiswahili.
