Roles and Responsibilities
The Project Officer will support the successful implementation of Dignitas' initiatives in Homa Bay, focusing primarily on coaching, capacity building, and promoting gender practices at the school level.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the coaching and capacity building of Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs), who will directly coach school leaders.
- Organize dates and help plan monthly virtual webinars, including mobilizing schools and following up on any challenges to ensure active participation and improved uptake of gender practices at school level.
- Support lead coaches with on-ground mobilization of schools and school leaders to ensure attendance at workshops, contributing to strengthened skills and capacity.
- Offer support during trainings, which may include taking attendance, assisting in setting up group sessions, and distributing materials.
- Support Curriculum Support Officers in designing cluster meetings aligned with the academic calendar.
- Together with the CSOs, strengthen Communities of Practice at the school level for both the continuing cohort and the current cohort.
- Participate in monitoring visits organized by Dignitas staff to assess project quality and progress.
- Support the Senior Programs Manager in documenting impact stories for donor reporting processes.
- Undertake any other duties necessary to support Dignitas’ work, as assigned by the line manager.
Requirements and Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Gender, or a related field (required).
- Experience: A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar environment; teaching or school leadership experience is an added advantage. Experience in coaching or supporting teachers is strongly preferred.
- Expertise: Strong expertise and experience in gender and gender-related fields.
- Location: Must be based in Homa Bay county and have local knowledge of the area.
- Skills: Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills. Excellent communication skills, including strong listening skills, and high emotional intelligence. Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines, and solve problems independently and collaboratively. Ability to think proactively and strategically, and must be an effective team player.
