Job Description
Shamiri Institute is an organization dedicated to providing youths in Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond with evidence-based tools to improve their life outcomes. Combining social science research with contextual knowledge, the institute focuses on education and mental healthcare. The Shamiri Fellows program in Muranga is designed for individuals to facilitate interventions that support adolescents' mental wellness and life skills.
Responsibilities and Duties
Intervention Delivery: Facilitate structured group sessions to deliver intervention activities to adolescent participants.
Referral Services: Identify and refer students requiring psychosocial support to Shamiri Supervisors.
Session Management: Record group session attendance and ensure the health, safety, and confidentiality of all participants under supervision.
Data Collection: Use the Shamiri Digital Hub during sessions to collect accurate participant data.
Reporting: Attend supervision meetings as scheduled and report necessary information to supervisors promptly.
Professionalism: Maintain strict punctuality on all program-related matters.
Requirements and Qualifications
Age: Must be between 18 and 22 years of age at the time of application.
Education: Minimum Grade C- in KCSE, or an equivalent qualification (GCSE, AS-level, etc.).
Technical Skills: Familiarity with Google Workspace tools (Google Docs, Forms, Calendar) or other basic digital tools.
Equipment: Must own or have access to a smartphone with internet access.
Experience: Prior experience in facilitating group activities, particularly with adolescents or in school settings, is an added advantage.
Personal Attributes: Strong commitment to confidentiality, fairness, and emotional safety; alignment with Shamiri's mission; and a willingness to learn from feedback.
Competencies: Strong time management, organization, and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail in facilitation and reporting.
Interests: Basic knowledge or a genuine interest in mental health, wellness, or life skills education.
