Job Description
The Mater Misericordiae Hospital is seeking a Senior Registrar in Obstetrics & Gynaecology to provide expert clinical care and leadership within the department. The role involves managing maternal health, performing complex surgeries, and mentoring junior medical staff to ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Care: Attend to antenatal mothers, review medical reports, and conduct safe deliveries.
Clinical Procedures: Undertake clinical examinations and specialized procedures within the scope of practice.
Ward Leadership: Carry out ward rounds alongside Senior Consultants and provide guidance on cases referred by Senior House Officers.
Departmental Oversight: Oversee the day-to-day running of the department and assist management in drawing up and implementing departmental policies and procedures.
Procurement Advisory: Advise and guide management on the procurement of medical equipment and essential supplies for the department.
Mentorship: Coach, mentor, and supervise Senior House Officers and elective medical students.
Administrative Compliance: Ensure hospital policies and administrative regulations are well-known and adhered to by all staff.
Staffing Coordination: Liaise with HR & Talent Development to ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained.
Professional Development: Conduct Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities to ensure high standards of competency and efficiency.
Patient Advocacy: Ensure patients receive utmost attention and care, and follow up on any complaints or concerns raised by patients.
Surgical Expertise: Conduct both elective and emergency surgeries.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery (MBChB).
Masters of Medicine in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (MMED).
Active registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
Specialized certifications in ECOG, EmONC, and ALSO.
