The International Rescue Committee is a global humanitarian aid, relief and development nongovernmental organization.
This role is for a Senior Program Manager, Enterprise Applications, hired on an 18-month contract basis. The role is pivotal in overseeing complex programs featuring significant technology components, ensuring adherence to established methodologies, and providing detailed status reporting to all stakeholders. This position reports directly to the Associate Director, Project and Portfolio Management (Enterprise Applications).
Major Responsibilities:
- Creates and Maintains Integrated Project Plan: Develops and continually updates detailed program management plans. This involves creating work breakdown structures based on project objectives and scope, and ensuring strict adherence to the implementation methodology.
- Manages Project Status Reporting: Prepares comprehensive status reports to effectively communicate project scope, goals, achievements, budget utilization, risk assessment, status updates, change requests, and critical issues to the client and project team.
- Supervises Project Cost Estimation, Ongoing Budget Tracking and Vendor Invoicing: Provides crucial oversight of ongoing budget monitoring and vendor invoicing processes. Assists in developing accurate cost estimates and analyzing related financial data.
- Performs Project Resource Management: Provides leadership and work direction for assigned projects, covering scheduling, assignment of work, and review of project efforts. Identifies necessary project resource requirements, coordinates staff assignments, checks for availability, and updates the project plan accordingly.
- Conducts Risk Management: Maintains thorough documentation for identified project risks and corresponding mitigation strategies. Proactively gathers, updates, and documents risk status as required.
- Supports Customer Management: Works closely with technology and business owners to analyze and manage customer expectations for projects based upon approved requirements.
- Provides Overall Project Administration: Actively participates in program team meetings, proactively documents meeting minutes, tracks issues, decisions, and action items, and follows up between meetings to ensure all issues are resolved swiftly.
- Conducts Other Tasks as Needed: Performs additional duties or special projects as required or as assigned.

The role requires maintaining productive working relationships across various internal and external groups:
- Maintains a productive working relationship with other Project Managers, business owners, project sponsors, system users, and vendors.
- Interacts frequently with project owners, senior technical personnel, and other functional or support organizations.
Position Reports to: Associate Director, Project and Portfolio Management (Enterprise Applications).
Internal Contacts: Headquarters & Global Offices Teams (multiple departments), Project Business Owners, business project team members outside IT, Project Sponsor, and Steering Committee members.
External Contacts: Vendors and Consultants.
Job Requirements (Experience / Education):
- Successfully managed complex programs with technology components.
- 3-6 years of project management experience in IT or software.
- Bachelor’s Degree is required (BA/BSc/HND).
- Experience managing document migration projects related to systems such as Box, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc. (Preferred).
- Project management experience at an International NGO/Global Humanitarian Organization (Preferred).
- Project and/or program management certification (PMP, CSM, etc.) (Preferred).
