Job Description
Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) is seeking a qualified Senior Lecturer in the field of Nursing. The role is designed to ensure effective teaching of both undergraduate and post graduate students in the field of specialization, carry out research in relevant areas and participate in community outreach activities all to contribute to the quality education and development of the society and to deliver on the objectives of the university. The Senior Lecturer shall report to the Chairperson of the Department.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development: Contribute to development, review and implementation of curriculum for the units and courses taught to ensure quality standard of delivered content.
Instructional Design: Participate in the design of the course outline to ensure that only relevant material is covered and aid in development of delivery material for teaching.
Student Assessment: Supervise and review students' coursework to confirm delivery of content and test understanding. Examine students on course content covered and process examination results.
Research & Publication: Identify research areas/topics, develop research proposals, and apply for funds. Publish research findings in refereed journals to disseminate knowledge.
Supervision & Mentorship: Mentor, guide and supervise undergraduate, masters and PhD students as they undertake own research projects.
Knowledge Advancement: Present research findings at seminars, workshops and symposia.
Consultancy & Outreach: Provide consultancy services to clients, guide the community on topical issues requiring expert opinion, and represent the university in specialized forums and international committees.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: PhD in Nursing or a relevant field or Equivalent.
Teaching Experience: Minimum five (5) years' University teaching/research experience.
Seniority: At least three (3) years must be at lecturer level/research fellow, covering both undergraduate and post graduate levels.
Supervision Record: Successful supervision of at least one (1) PhD or three (3) Masters since the last promotion.
Research Record: Evidence of research through at least four (4) publications in refereed Journals since the last promotion, OR three (3) publications in refereed Journals and two (2) Chapters in scholarly books since the last promotion.
