Job Description
Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) is seeking a Clinical Instructor to facilitate experiential learning in the clinical setting. The role involves ensuring students are placed and receive learning support in various facilities. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Chairperson of the department to execute duties and contribute toward meeting the key performance indicators and targets of the department and the overall University mission and vision.
Responsibilities
Assess students' clinical competence by performing actual clinical duties and medical procedures under supervision.
Identify each student's potential and areas of improvement to adjust the instruction approach as needed.
Monitor students' progress and performance during clinical practice trainings.
Provide direct patient care as applicable.
Participate in budgeting for clinical training expenditure for the classroom, lab, hospital, and community facilities timely to ensure proper running of the clinical practice trainings.
Take stock and advise the Clinical Instructor II on the requisition of materials for clinical training of health sciences students during clinical practice trainings.
Participate in departmental committees and internal clinical practice trainings auditing.
Obtain and set equipment for clinical practicals.
Collect and prepare clinical practice trainings and research materials.
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot clinical practice training equipment.
Coordinate, invigilate, and mark practical examinations.
Supervise undergraduate clinical practicals.
Assist in organizing and participating in shows and exhibitions.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Six (6) years of working experience, three (3) of which must be as an Assistant Clinical Instructor Grade 7 or its equivalent.
Registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Valid practicing Nursing License issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Member of a recognized professional body and in good standing.
Proficiency in relevant computer applications.
Additional Clearances
Successful candidates will be required to submit valid clearances from:
Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
Directorate of Criminal Investigation (Certificate of Good Conduct)
Registered Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
