Job Description

The Senior Investigator will conduct high-quality investigations of policy violations and allegations of wrongdoing related to financial fraud, corruption, ethics and compliance, safeguarding, workplace bullying, and other related matters as directed by leadership. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity and transparency of PATH's global operations.
Key Responsibilities
Investigations
Conduct high-quality investigations into financial fraud, corruption, ethics violations, safeguarding, and workplace bullying.
Assist the legal team with the collection, organization, and preparation of data for review in legal matters, regulatory filings, and law enforcement referrals.
Develop complex investigation plans including case fact summaries, chronologies, witness lists, and operational logistics.
Lead investigative missions to collect documentary and electronic information, and conduct interviews with witnesses and subjects.
Manage investigation intake, triage priorities, and delegate cases to internal or external partners as necessary.
Provide clear findings and recommendations through detailed written reports and management briefings to facilitate corrective action.
Training and Awareness
Act as an ambassador to foster trust in the investigative process among internal and external stakeholders.
Develop and deliver education and training programs focused on fraud and misconduct prevention.
Collaborate with program partners to strengthen a culture of integrity and internal control environments based on lessons learned from investigations.
Contribute to enterprise-wide strategic initiatives from an investigations perspective.
Management and Metrics
Implement project management techniques to maximize investigative efficiency.
Screen, engage, and manage external investigators when required.
Maintain communication with senior management and legal counsel regarding case progress.
Develop and report on key metrics and outcomes to senior leadership, including the Executive Team.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, forensic accounting, audit, crime, law, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years of experience conducting safeguarding and complex fraud investigations related to financial, corruption, and procurement fraud.
Sector Experience: Experience in complex, matrixed global organizations; international NGO experience with regulatory knowledge of USAID, FCDO, and private donor grants is strongly preferred.
Analytical Skills: Outstanding qualitative analytical skills and experience using quantitative data to support findings.
Technical Competency: High proficiency in investigation tools, case management systems, and fraud detection technologies.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication in English; proficiency in French is preferred.
Availability: Ability to work flexible hours across time zones and travel domestically/internationally on short notice.
Authorization: Must have legal authorization to work in Kenya.
