Job Description
The Senior Corporate Communication Officer is responsible for managing the North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency's internal and external communications. This role involves maintaining the institution's brand, managing media relations, and ensuring clear communication with stakeholders and the general public to support the agency's mission of developing sustainable water and sanitation infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Respond to all queries regarding the Institution from the general public, media, and special interest groups.
Ensure all communication materials (collaterals) for Institution functions are prepared and issued in line with brand guidelines and the overall communications strategy.
Collect and communicate information that informs the Institution's strategic direction.
Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and periodic reports within schedule and to the required standards.
Draft press releases and respond to media inquiries.
Create in-house stories and publications such as magazines, brochures, flyers, notices, and advertisements.
Maintain and update the stakeholder database and mailing lists.
Prepare public relations materials for various events and maintain a media database.
Monitor press coverage regarding the Institution and the water sector.
Update the Institution website and digital platforms; engage with users on social media (e.g., Twitter, Facebook).
Organize events including press conferences, exhibitions, open days, workshops, and fairs.
Manage the Corporate Communication Department registry and take news-worthy photos.
Handle selection and storage of promotional videos, photography, and publicity materials.
Compile reports on the usage of publicity and CSR budgets and prepare proposals for committee meetings.
Coordinate customer satisfaction surveys and execute public relations campaigns.
Qualifications and Experience
A minimum of six (6) years of relevant work experience, with three (3) years at a supervisory level.
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Active membership in the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) or the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK).
Proficiency in computer applications.
Completion of a Supervisory Course lasting at least two (2) weeks from a recognized institution.
Must fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
