The Sectional IP Network Engineer – Field - Central is responsible for achieving MSAN network availability and customer uptime KPIs through on-site power-related maintenance for assigned MSAN nodes, ensuring the quality and continuity of services as per the company's KPIs within budgeted costs. The role also involves carrying out Feasibility & Implementation, as well as billing-related disconnection and reconnection of ISDN & PSTN circuits at the MSAN level.
Key Responsibilities
MSAN & Node Availability: Maintain consistent MSAN availability through proactive maintenance of node power supplies.
Fault Management: Timely management and resolution of assigned MSAN & Switch power-related faults within SLA.
Customer Updates: Facilitate key updates during the restoration journey to ensure the customer is fully updated.
Circuit Operations: Carry out Feasibility, Implementation, and disconnection/reconnection of ISDN and PSTN circuits.
Documentation: Complete and maintain customer setup documentation.
HSE Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment by following HSE guidelines, engineering standards, procedures, and legal regulations.
Performance & Costs: Keep track of individual performance, suggest improvement initiatives, monitor network costs, and align with the Finance department.
Other Duties: Perform any other duties as may be assigned or delegated by the line manager.
Principal Outputs
Work within the allocated monthly fuel limit.
Provide street MSAN power meter readings to Finance by the 20th of every month.
Ensure 99.65% average MSAN availability for Nairobi MSANs for the year.
Ensure 90% of all Nairobi MSANs are on target and above 90% with regards to power status.
Reconnect 80% of disconnected lines within 2 hours after payment of bills.
Ensure 80% of all assigned provision & cessation cases are completed within 24 hours.
Resolve 80% of faults within 4 hours.
Carry out routine quarterly maintenance on all MSAN nodes and provide power autonomy status and recommendations.
Complete assigned feasibility tickets within 24 hours.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education: Relevant Bachelor’s degree or Higher Diploma in Telecommunications / Engineering.
Industry Experience: 3–5 years working in the Telecommunication industry.
Technical Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant technical experience within a large national network.
Driving License: Valid Kenyan driving license is required.
Core Skills: Proficiency in MS Office tools.
Soft Skills: Ability to plan and prioritize work, calmness under pressure, self-motivated, and strong teamwork capabilities.

Hands-on proficiency in the installation and maintenance of power equipment.
Knowledge of SIP protocols and experience working with SIP providers.
Routing and switching experience with hands-on proficiency in configuring multivendor routers and switches.
Cisco qualifications or any other equivalent IP Network certification.
