Job Description
Durham International School provides a first-class all-around educational experience for pupils aged 3 to 18. We are looking for a professional School Bus Driver to ensure the safe and timely transportation of our students. The role involves managing student boarding, maintaining vehicle safety standards, and ensuring a disciplined environment during transit.
Responsibilities
Student Transportation: Safely transport students on assigned routes to and from school according to established timetables.
Safety Management: Ensure students board and disembark the bus in a safe and orderly manner; ensure all passengers remain seated while the vehicle is in motion.
Access Control: Ensure only authorized passengers use the bus service.
Student Assistance: Assist younger students when boarding or alighting and ensure they cross roads safely where applicable.
Behavioral Management: Maintain appropriate discipline on the bus and report any behavioral issues to the Transport Manager.
Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, checking brakes, lights, tyres, mirrors, emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits.
Compliance: Ensure seat belts are used appropriately by all students.
Documentation: Complete and submit daily route logs and inspection checklists; report accidents, incidents, or mechanical problems immediately.
Credential Management: Maintain valid driving credentials and ensure they are up to date at all times.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Secondary School Certificate (KCSE) or equivalent.
Valid Public Service Vehicle (PSV) Driving License.
Valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
Valid Defensive Driving Certificate (preferred).
Valid First Aid Certificate (preferred).
Clean driving record with no serious traffic violations.
Minimum 3–5 years of professional bus driving experience.
Experience driving school buses or passenger buses is highly preferred.
Experience working in a school or with children is a significant advantage.

Problem-solving abilities in emergency situations.
