Job Description
AIC Kijabe Hospital, originally established in 1915 as a small outpatient clinic and now a Level 6B National Tertiary Teaching and Referral Hospital, is seeking a Research Officer. This faith-based multi-specialty facility serves patients from across Kenya and other African countries. The Research Officer will support clinical research and surveillance initiatives within this high-level healthcare setting.
Responsibilities and Duties
Manage and conduct data collection for clinical research projects.
Utilize electronic data entry systems such as Red Cap for data management.
Support healthcare surveillance activities, particularly in areas like Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams to implement quality improvement initiatives.
Analyze data and use basic statistical tools to generate reports.
Provide training and support to clinical staff regarding research protocols and data organization.
Requirements and Qualifications
A Degree or Diploma in a health-related field (e.g., Nursing, Medicine, Clinical Medicine, Pharmacy, etc.).
Experience with Quality Improvement, Infection Prevention and Control, Antimicrobial Resistance, or healthcare surveillance is preferred.
Strong skills in data collection, analysis, and electronic data entry systems (e.g., Red Cap).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and basic statistical tools.
Strong communication, teamwork, training, and organizational abilities.
