Established in 1952, the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu is part of the Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS). It is a 61-bed acute care facility managed by qualified professionals who include experienced, full-time resident doctors and consultants. The hospital's objectives are to provide high quality, cost-effective health care to the population of Western Kenya.
Overall Responsibility
Reporting to the Head of Pathology, the successful candidate will ensure provision of effective, efficient, and quality laboratory analytical services in the Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain laboratory quality management system in alignment with ISO 15189, JCIA, and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate document and record control processes to promote standardization and compliance.
Plan and conduct internal audits, coordinate external and other applicable audits and inspections.
Manage nonconformities, incidents, and risk assessments to enhance patient and staff safety.
Monitor and analyze quality indicators and support management review processes.
Coordinate staff quality training, orientation, and competence assessments.
Oversee internal and external quality control programs.
Manage customer feedback to support continuous service improvement.
Requirements
Bachelor of Science or Higher National Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized institution.
Valid professional license from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a busy medical laboratory, including demonstrated involvement in laboratory accreditation processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
