Job Description
The Research Assistant will support study implementation through participant recruitment, clinical procedures, retinal imaging, sample collection, follow-up, and accurate real-time data entry using REDCap. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with study protocols and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) while facilitating smooth operations at both health facilities and within the community.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in identifying and directing potentially eligible participants at the health facility to the study room in line with the study procedures.
Support smooth participant flow during study visits, ensuring orderly movement through study procedures.
Enter study data into REDCap as guided, ensuring accuracy and timely submission of information.
Maintain and update simple study registers and tracking logs for screening, visits, and follow-up of the study participants.
Make reminder calls or messages to participants regarding upcoming study appointments and visits.
Follow up with participants who miss scheduled visits to support retention and reduce loss to follow-up.
Assist with participants' time/transport reimbursement and other duties as assigned.
Assist in preparation, organization, and safekeeping of study materials, forms, and workspace.
Support community mobilization activities in collaboration with community health promoters when required.
Follow instructions from supervisors at all times and maintain strict confidentiality of participant information.
Requirements and Qualifications
Either a Diploma in Community Health Nursing (KRCHN), Public Health, or a related field.
At least one (1) year of continuous clinical experience with ANC, Maternity, and Rural health experience.
Experience in research and as a community health officer will be an added advantage.
Basic computer literacy, with a willingness to learn REDCap data entry systems.
Good communication and interpersonal skills suitable for community and facility engagement.
Ability to work effectively in both facility and community settings.
Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and work under supervision.
Previous experience in research or health-related programs is an added advantage.
